Building from C-Motion
C-Motion was created in 1997 to commercialize the US National Institutes of Health’s physical rehabilitation 6DoF analysis technology. The result of this transfer was Visual3D, which was first released in 2001 and since grown to have thousands of users in over 50 countries.
HAS-Motion was established in 2007 as C-Motion’s R&D partner with Scott Selbie as President. In 2023, HAS-Motion acquired the intellectual property rights to C-Motion’s software and is excited about launching the products in new directions while maintaining C-Motion’s reputation for quality products and excellent customer service.
About our Founder
Starting with a PhD in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University in 1989, Scott Selbie has since become a luminary in the world of biomechanical research. For more than two decades he has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of 3D motion capture analysis through his significant contributions to the development of Visual3D, recognized as a premier software in the domain.
Beyond his groundbreaking work with Visual3D, Scott is a prolific author, having co-penned seminal chapters in leading textbooks in the field, such as “Research Methods in Biomechanics” and “Handbook of Human Motion”. His expertise and guidance continue to influence the next generation of researchers as he serves as an Adjunct Professor in both the Mechanical Engineering Department at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and the Kinesiology Department at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Scott’s relentless passion and commitment to his field not only echo in his numerous written contributions but are also vividly alive in his ongoing educational endeavors, fostering innovation and nurturing minds eager to explore the dynamic world of biomechanics.
