Turn
Motion Capture Measures

Turn Motion Capture Measures

into Reliable Results

Combine motion capture data from different vendors. Build custom models and pipelines. All in a way that your lab can execute reliably day after day.

Making Sense
of Motion Capture

Human movement is wonderful in its complex variability. But what if your job is to understand it all? Here’s how we help:

Get Consistent Modelling Decisions

Easily handle changing marker sets

Integrate different sensor modalities into a common analysis

Apply updated reporting templates

Ensure Reproducible Analysis

Keep your data and analysis scripts in one place

Make it easy to share analytical decisions and details

Automate away error-prone manual tasks

Connect Results to your Audience

Break down barriers to sharing between labs

Build on previous research results

Get your biomechanical reporting out of its silo

You need analysis tools that let you do what you need to do.
That’s where we come in.

Analysis Tools That Put You in Control

When you’re judged by every measure, you need complete confidence. We build tools for users like you. Users who want to collect their activity their way. Who are pushing the boundaries of what’s already being done. And who needs to have an impact outside the lab.

Visual3D

Born from the US National Institutes of Health’s need to harmonize motion capture studies across labs, Visual3D has been providing researchers and engineers with a common framework for modelling and analysing human movement for a quarter century.

Visual3D isn’t afraid to stretch its legs either, getting out of the lab to help prosthetic manufacturers, sports apparel companies, and professional sports teams find their edge.

Sift

Big data has arrived in biomechanics and Sift is here to scale analysis processes from proof-of-concept to impact. Engineered to explore, Sift gives you a different window into your data.

Go beyond what you thought was possible by scaling your analysis alongside your motion capture: automate your analysis intelligently so that results are there when you need them.

Support

Every HasMotion product is backed by our technical support service, delivered by the engineers and developers who built the tools. Know that we’re with you every step of the way and see what’s possible for your questions.

In-house Research

We stay on the cutting edge by engaging with today’s hardest problems in motion capture analysis. Blending biomechanics, mathematics, and data science together, our work finds its way into conferences and software worldwide.

FAQs

Visual3D is compatible with a wide range of motion capture systems, largely through our support of the C3D file format. This is a public domain file format that has been used by biomechanics researchers for more than 40 years and is supported by all major manufacturers of 3D motion capture systems.

Visual3D also includes specific integrations with alternative file formats used by the motion capture community. Look through our extensive roster of technology-integration partners to find your system.

Core to Visual3D’s philosophy is that you should be in control of your data. That’s why we don’t proscribe models, we let you build your model your way.

For pose estimation Visual3D supports both six-degree-of-freedom and inverse kinematics approaches in a way that is flexible enough to model adults, children, horses, goats, and robots. For supported markerless and IMU systems, Visual3D will automatically build a model for you that you can customize as desired.

For kinematic and kinetic quantities, Visual3D allows you to define your own measures so that your results are your results.

Visual3D is consistently being updated, with more than 20 releases every year. Major updates since 2022 include support for multisubject C3D files, continued integration with markerless motion capture systems, and new pipeline commands to simplify your automations.

See our release notes for a complete list of new features or catch us at an upcoming conference or user group meeting!

We agree with you 100% of the way. Robust, repeatable results need to provide insight into how they were produced and Visual3D has you covered.

Disclaimer: Visual3D implements NO proprietary algorithms, all of our analysis methods are drawn from the scientific literature. Full descriptions are available in the original articles, in the Research Methods in Biomechanics textbook, or on our wiki documentation site.

Visual3D also records processing histories for the signals and metrics that it computes to make sure you can always trace your results back to the original data.

Visual3D and Sift are separate applications that work well together, giving users different views into their motion capture data.

Visual3D lets users drill down into the individual signals and models that make up a motion capture session. See exactly where your data is coming from, inspect segment definitions, and implement new analysis items.

Sift gives you a bird’s eye view of all your motion capture data plus an intuitive interface for exploring your data. Use a structured tool for gathering, cleaning, shaping, and analysing your data before acting on the results.

Visual3D and Sift are both PC-based applications with no cloud computing requirements. This means that your data stays on your computers. We never see it and neither does anyone else.

How many do you have? Sift is regularly used to process hundreds of trials at once.

Sift’s console application and batch processing features allow your analysis to scale with your data – process thousands of trials at once or one-by-one as they are recorded!

You can buy our software directly from us or from one of our authorized resellers around the globe.

Contact HasMotion to learn more about our products and how they can help you go from motion capture data to insights.

Visual3D and Sift are both under active development with new features released every month. Stay up to date by following us on social media, catching us at scientific conferences, or attend one of our User Group Meetings!
