Human Motion in Focus: 2025 UK User Group Meeting

The 2025 edition of the UK User Group Meeting, will be hosted at Edinburgh Napier University on May 19–20. This annual event brings together biomechanics researchers, engineers, and clinical innovators. What they have in common is a desire to share knowledge and explore the science of human motion. Organized by HAS-Motion, this year’s user group meeting continues the tradition of bridging technology, research, and practice.

Advancing Motion Science Through Community

The program focuses on translational research and real-world applications—from diabetic foot analysis and equine biomechanics. An underlying theme across speakers is the challenge of communicating biomechanical insights in the real world.

Topics covered during the program include:

  • Biomechanical analysis of the diabetic foot
  • Biomechanics in high-performance environments, including dance and sport
  • Racial influences on physical assessments
  • Equine biomechanics
  • Analysis techniques for biomechanical waveforms and big data

User Group Meeting Speakers

We are very happy to present this year’s slate of speakers, drawn a diverse set of disciplines. In addition to Scott Selbie, CEO, and Sydney Garrah, Biomechanical Engineer at HAS-Motion, this meeting features speakers from south to north in the UK.

Coming from different backgrounds, these speakers are united by a common goal: deepening our understanding of how and why we move.

  • Alexandra Atack (St. Mary’s University, Twickenham)
  • Nachiappan Chockalingam (University of Staffordshire)
  • Sarah Jane Hobbs (University of Central Lancashire)
  • Mark Robinson (Liverpool John Moores University)
  • Alex Mbuli (Edinburgh Napier University)
  • Harry Davies (University of Bath)

User Group Program, Speaker Bios, and Logistics

Beyond the speakers, HAS-Motion’s User Group Meetings are a chance for the biomechanics community to meet up. Catch up with old friends and make some new ones throughout the social program. And of course, enjoy all the best that Edinburgh has to offer.

Full details regarding the speakers, event logistics, and social program are in the 2025 UK User Group Meeting Program.
