HAS-Motion Acquires Visual3D Biomechanics Analysis Software

Kingston, ON / January 2nd, 2024 / HAS-Motion today announces the acquisition of software assets from research biomechanics company C-Motion for cash. The acquisition will enable HAS-Motion to continue its 15-year history of research & development in biomechanics while providing customers with world-class software including Visual3D, the premiere software application in biomechanics analysis.

Scott Selbie founded HAS-Motion in 2008 and remains president. Over the past 15 years the company innovated and collaborated across academia and industry, at home and abroad. Most notably, HAS-Motion has partnered with researchers at Queen’s University, supported the ongoing development of C-Motion’s suite of applications – including Visual3D, Inspect3D, and the Dynamic Stereo X-Ray suite of applications, and commercialized the markerless motion capture technology that was spun off as Theia Markerless in 2020.

“I’m happy to be continuing my lifelong pursuit of making human motion understandable to researchers and clinicians. My involvement with C-Motion and Visual3D in particular go back to 1997 and I’m delighted to bring them home to Kingston, Ontario and continue this work.”
