The HasMotion Japan User Group Meeting shifts to Sapporo where we’ll discuss what it takes to conduct reproducible motion capture analysis.
We look forward to welcoming our users and partners in Japan to the historic Hokkaido Red Brick Building for two days discussing motion capture.
Reproducible Science
This year’s event takes as its theme the idea of “reproducible” motion capture analysis. Central to this, in our opinion, is the ability to share data between labs and between collaborators. Shareable data carries with it enough context that others can reproduce our analysis, making it an appropriate starting point in our journey.
Talks during the meeting will address:
- Understanding human movement through the lens of embodied cognition;
- Bridging the gap between motion capture in the lab and daily analysis in rehab settings; and
- How to share motion capture data.
Workshops will be delivered for both Visual3D and Sift, covering:
- Working with HasMotion’s new HDF5-based file format for motion capture analysis;
- Using event sequences to structure motion capture data;
- Using queries to explore motion capture data sets; and
- Scaling quality assurance for biomechanical waveforms.
And, finally, it takes a community to make motion capture work. HasMotion partners with a wide range of companies around the world to ensure that our users experience seamless integration no matter what system they use. Attendees will hear from two of our two partners with a presence in Japan: Fujitsu and Jiku.

HAS-Motion’s User Group Meetings are a chance to catch up with old friends and make some new ones; in addition to talks and workshops we also have coffee breaks throughout the days and a social event planned for Saturday night.
